These terms apply when you buy from meridianoxford.com. Please read them before ordering — by placing an order you accept them.

What we sell

We sell personalised novelty gifts: comedy award certificates and related merchandise. They are entertainment products. They are not academic qualifications, recognised degrees, professional credentials or evidence of educational achievement, and they confer no title, post-nominal letters or professional standing of any kind.

We are not a university, a college or an educational institution, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the University of Oxford or any constituent college of the University of Oxford. Every certificate carries the words “Novelty award — for entertainment purposes only”.

Placing an order

Your order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed when we email you to confirm it. If we cannot fulfil an order we will tell you and refund you in full.

Prices are shown in pounds sterling on the UK store and US dollars on the US store, and include any applicable UK VAT. Delivery is shown at checkout before you pay.

We try to keep prices and descriptions accurate. If we spot a genuine pricing error before dispatch, we will contact you and you can confirm at the corrected price or cancel for a full refund.

Wording you supply

You choose the wording that goes on your certificate, and you are responsible for it. By ordering you confirm that:

you have the right to use any name you give us, and the recipient will not object to receiving it;
the wording is not defamatory, harassing, threatening or unlawful;
the wording does not infringe anyone's trade marks or copyright;
the wording does not claim a real qualification, professional title or regulated status (for example doctor, solicitor, nurse, surveyor or accountant).

We will not print wording that in our reasonable judgement breaches the above. If we decline an order for that reason we will refund you in full and explain why.

We produce exactly what you type. Check your spelling — the live preview on the product page is what we print. If you spot a mistake, email us within two hours of ordering and we will almost always be able to correct it before production.

Adults-only products

Some products are in an adults-only section. By entering it you confirm you are over 18. These products are cheekier in wording but are not sexually explicit.

Delivery

See delivery and dispatch. Delivery times are estimates. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery.

Cancellation and returns

Because everything we make is personalised to your wording, the usual 14-day cancellation right does not apply once production starts. This does not affect your rights if something is faulty, damaged or not as described. The full position is set out in returns, cancellations and refunds.

If something goes wrong

Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights. In the UK, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives you the right to goods that are of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described.

We are responsible for loss you suffer as a foreseeable result of us breaking this contract or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, or for business losses. Our liability is not limited in any way that would be unlawful, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

Changes

We may update these terms. The version that applies to your order is the one published when you ordered.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings there. If you are a consumer outside the United Kingdom, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live.
