Novelty product notice

Last updated September 2026.

Everything sold by Meridian College Oxford is a novelty gift, made for entertainment.

What these products are not

Our certificates are not academic qualifications, recognised degrees, professional credentials or evidence of educational achievement. They confer no title, no post-nominal letters, no professional standing and no right to describe yourself as holding any qualification.

Meridian College Oxford is not a university, a college or an educational institution. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the University of Oxford or any constituent college of the University of Oxford.

We hold no degree-awarding powers, no accreditation, and no registration with the Office for Students or any other regulator, and we make no claim to any.

What is printed on every certificate

Every certificate we produce carries the words “Novelty award — for entertainment purposes only”, and a unique reference number.

Using them honestly

These are gifts, to be given and laughed at. Presenting one as a real qualification — to an employer, a client, a regulator or anyone else — may be a criminal offence. In the United Kingdom, section 214 of the Education Reform Act 1988 makes it an offence to offer or award something that could be taken for a genuine UK degree. We will not print wording that claims a real qualification, profession or regulated title.
